A very active forecast to discuss, as a windy Tuesday turns to a cold front and chilly weather by late week and into the weekend. Tuesday brings windy, warm conditions: near 40° lows turn into the lower 70’s (warmer-than-average) Tuesday afternoon in the Brazos Valley. A southerly wind races 10-20 mph (gusts: 25 mph) throughout the day. Warm Wednesday in store, as afternoon highs manage the lower-to-middle 70’s before a northerly wind shifts from a cold front arriving switches around late afternoon to early evening Wednesday. As that wind turns around, a kick 30% chance for showers, few thunderstorms are possible across the far Southern Brazos Valley. Main concerns will be downpours and gusty winds. The cold air behind this cold front lingers through the weekend in the Brazos Valley.
By late week, a disturbance swings by, bringing added moisture to the atmosphere, producing cold, light rainfall Thursday. There could be a pocket of air below freezing (32°) some 2,500FT upwards, which could bring a mixture of sleet/snow pellets to the ground. However, we’re not expecting any sort of ice accumulation, as ground surface temperatures are in the 40s Thursday. Any sleet/snow melts on contact. There could be a bit of snow (very low chance, but not ruled out) for the Western Brazos Valley by Thursday evening, with accumulation minimal. Model data suggests the weekend runs much drier, but we’ll need to monitor Friday evening into early Saturday. After a stint in the middle 20s Saturday morning we’ll hover around freezing through Monday. We’ll range the middle-to-upper 40’s Friday & Saturday afternoons and middle 50s by Sunday afternoon.
