Forecast Discussion:
Clouds hanging around. The Gulf moisture fueling humid, warm weather. A gusty southerly wind shift. Combine those three factors and Southeast Texas is feeling a soupy, springy feel outside. Unfortunately, the late week forecast will be feeling more like the latter portion of May, as mornings run in the 70s and afternoon highs reach the lower 80s Thursday and Friday. A southerly wind races 15-20 mph with gusts upwards to 30 mph possible on Thursday. By Thursday night, a corridor of storms develop across West Texas, and by sunrise Friday, that’ll start to struggle to cross the I-35 Corridor in Central TX. Scattered rain activity is expected as early as mid-morning through mid-afternoon Friday for the Brazos Valley (drifts west to east). The NWSSPC places the Brazos Valley under a 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather on Friday, but the odds for an isolated strong-to-severe storms overall low. Once the front arrives, a round of showers, non-severe storms develop and dive south across the area through the pre-sunrise hours of Friday.

By this cold front, the weekend looks seasonable: mornings in the 50s and afternoons in the 70s are expected. Gulf moisture brings a chance for showers Sunday afternoon before another cold front arrives Monday. Once it passes, afternoons in the 60s and 70s are on tap through mid-next week. By the final days of March 2023, springy weather takes back over before another weather system brings a chance for April showers by the start of the new month.
