Forecast Discussion:
Overnight Saturday into Sunday morning will bring some of the coldest weather of the season to Southeast and Central Texas, as a reinforcing Arctic front keeps a bitterly cold, dry air mass locked in place. Temperatures will fall into the mid-20s to near 32° by Sunday morning, with a widespread freeze expected across the Brazos Valley. Gusty Arctic winds will drive wind chill values down into the lower 20s overnight, making outdoor conditions dangerously cold, even for short periods of time.

Blustery, freezing conditions are expected to bring a hard freeze to the Northern Brazos Valley early Sunday morning, especially across rural Leon, Houston, and Madison Counties. Be sure to complete your cold-weather preparations: provide a warm, safe shelter for outdoor pets, wrap exposed pipes and faucets, and protect tender plants, gardens, sensitive crops, and livestock. Temperatures will rebound early next week, climbing into the upper 50s to lower 60s for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and remaining there through the week. Mornings will still be chilly, with lows mainly in the 40s. With more seasonable conditions returning, our next chance for rain arrives midweek, with about a 50% chance of widespread showers on Wednesday. Rainfall amounts look light overall, but it will be a welcome change.

5-Day Weather Outlook:
Sunday: High 55. Low 30. Sunny, Cold.
MLK Jr. Day: High 60. Low 31. Sunny.
Tuesday: High 58. Low 44. Sunny.
Wednesday: High 60. Low 48. Cloudy. 50% Chance/Rain.
