Forecast Discussion:
Another cool, sunshiny day across the Brazos Valley! Grayish skies carry us through much of the upcoming week, as several weather systems move through the United States. A weak front arrives Monday night, allowing for a quick north wind shift and cool lower 60° weather on Tuesday afternoon. The largest impact from this frontal system is when it stalls near the Texas Coast, creating a low trough that’ll funnel in additional Gulf moisture through a good portion of the upcoming week. The rainmaking moisture from that trough will pass over the Brazos Valley Wednesday, bringing a decent chance for passing showers throughout the day. Most of the heaviest rain totals occur along Coastal Texas and the Southern Brazos Valley, with lower accumulations further north.
Temperatures move into the middle 60s by the end of the week, before another major Arctic front looks to sweep the Brazos Valley by late next weekend, dropping highs into the 30s and 40s across the Brazos Valley. This could also spark some additional chances for rain by Saturday night into Sunday. For now, there is a lot of discussion (and inaccuracy) on what exactly will fall from the sky. However, there is some indication that some of this accumulation could be wintry in nature. For now, the NWS has put Madison County, TX within the freezing rain category late Saturday night into early Sunday morning. Either way, it’s important to remain mindful and know that it’s still too early to determine what impacts to weather and travel we’ll be expecting. Stay tuned!
