Forecast Discussion: Let’s put the forecast this way: everyday for the next week features at least a chance for rainstorms for Central and Southeast Texas. This weekend is expected to bring a widespread chance for showers and thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday, with that a few spotty storms possible as early as Friday for the Brazos Valley. A stalled cold front and dryline will setup shop northwest of the Brazos Valley, allowing storms to fire up during the heat of the day. Most of Friday is expected to be mostly quiet, as the atmosphere remains “capped” for the region. However, Fridays remains dry, warm, and humid to end the work week. If a storm does fire up quickly, strong winds and hail would be the largest concern Friday. While the early portion of the weekend should remain somewhat quiet, the weekend brings a chance for disruptions to your outings.
Saturday and Sunday bring a chance for widespread showers and thunderstorms for the Brazos Valley, with a severe weather concern and flooding threat possible for the region. Conditions could be quiet heading into midday Saturday, but the Brazos Valley will need to monitor for a mixture of daytime heating and an approaching cold front. The longer you move into Saturday, the better chance you find a chance for rainstorms through the day. Once this front stalls, the Brazos Valley will need to monitor for additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms through the end of the weekend. The largest risk for severe weather come with the initial onset of storms Saturday, hail and high winds is a large risk for the Brazos Valley. A brief tornado cannot be ruled out at this time. Another round of rain is expected Sunday, with clearing skies by the end of the day. However, a scattered rain chance remains on the books Monday through Wednesday of next week.
5-Day Weather Outlook: Friday: High 85. Low 67. Mostly Cloudy. 30% Chance/Rain. Saturday: High 82. Low 59. Storms. 90% Chance/Rain. Sunday: High 71. Low 63. Storms. 80% Chance/Rain. Monday: High 80. Low 66. Storms. 50% Chance/Rain. Tuesday: High 80. Low 62. Rainy. 40% Chance/Rain.
