Forecast Discussion:
An active weekend unfolded across the Brazos Valley, especially Saturday afternoon and evening, as a cold front moved through and brought heavy showers and strong thunderstorms. Those storms have exited to the east-southeast, leaving behind passing showers and a clap of thunder through the overnight hours of Saturday. This latest cold front has shifted a north wind around, bringing temperatures into the middle 50s to 69s areawide Sunday morning for the Brazos Valley. Don’t forget clocks move forward one hour Sunday morning (2AM sharp).
Sunday brings calm, cooler conditions for the Brazos Valley, with temperatures only reaching the 70° Sunday afternoon under cloudier skies. A few passing showers are possible throughout the day Sunday, but nothing heavy-in-nature. Overall, severe weather isn’t a concern to end the weekend, as the low-level moisture in the atmosphere has been zapped out by drier air from this stalled cold front, which impedes any possible rain chances Sunday. We’ll keep a 40% chance for passing showers, storms through Monday, as a warm front lifts through Southeast Texas. Another cold front pushes through the region Wednesday, ushering in cooler air Thursday, before we round out the week with sunshine and cool weather. There are some signals the back half of the month could feature colder weather, but nothing to alarm for the region as of now.
