Forecast Discussion:
Moving into the holiday weekend with warm, foggy weather across the Brazos Valley, but what else is new? That stubborn ridge of high pressure continues to influence our forecast through the rest of the week and this weekend across the State of Texas. Through the weekend, mornings begin in the 60s across the Brazos Valley, with areas of patchy fog, before highs reach the 80° mark each afternoon and sunshine prevails. A touch more humidity is added to those afternoon head index values. In the morning, that moisture translates to patchy to dense fog, especially across rural, low-lying areas for the Brazos Valley, so use caution on your morning commute Friday through Sunday.
While it may seem this foggy, warm forecast won’t go away, it does by early next week for the Brazos Valley. A potent cold front will slide across the Southern United States, bringing a colder, rainy weather for Texas (and maybe some snow for those north and east). This next cold front arrives late Sunday into early Monday, bringing a quick chance for scattered showers (30%), before a blustery north wind turns around heading into the next week. Colder temperatures are expected locally, as lows bottom out in the upper 20s to around freezing (32°) Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Highs struggle to crack the 50° mark early next week. By midweek, temperatures are still cool in the 50s during the afternoons. A freeze is possible for many of us, so be sure to wrap your outdoor pipes, protect your plants and tender vegetation, and shelter your outdoor pets. If you’ve been wanting colder weather, this is the perfect forecast for you. Enjoy!
