Forecast Discussion:
Temperatures moved into the lower-to-middle 50s, with sunny skies, across Southeast and Central Texas Tuesday afternoon, thanks to a recent cold front. We’ll cool quickly overnight, because of of a drier, cold airmass, alongside calm and clear conditions. A widespread freeze is expected for many by Wednesday morning in the Brazos Valley. Temperatures range the upper 20s to lower 30s across the entire region, making it one of the coldest mornings this winter season. Be sure to make those winter weather preparations: shelter outdoor pets, cover your plants and tender gardens, and cover exposed faucets or piping. Madisonville, TX, should dip around the 30° mark Wednesday morning.
From there, a warming trend takes us into the New Year, with highs approaching the 80° mark late week. For New Year’s Eve, afternoon highs reach the middle 60s across the Brazos Valley under sunny skies. Temperatures could be pretty chilly for those firework or outdoor celebrations, so bundle up, as lows dip around 40° New Year’s (Thursday) Day. Highs are some 20° above average Friday afternoon, with a high slated for 78° in Madisonville, TX. A weak front arrives over the weekend, allowing us to drop some 10° around the 70° mark for Saturday and Sunday in the Brazos Valley. Warming, 70°+ weather is expected for the first week of January 2026.
