Forecast Discussion:
Winter has returned with a fury across Southeast and Central Texas to wrap up the last few days of the year. After the front arrived late Sunday night, temperatures dropped around 40° Monday morning, as a blustery north wind blow 15-25 mph with gusts upwards to 35 mph. There were a few instances of a sleet/graupel mix outside during the late morning and early afternoon hours across the Brazos Valley, even as the air was very, very dry at the surface. The winds relaxed Monday evening, leading to quieter, calm conditions. However, the colder weather isn’t finished just yet.
Temperatures struggled in the 40s Monday afternoon. Tuesday and Wednesday mornings look to bring the coldest weather we’ve had this winter season across the Brazos Valley. By Monday night, temperatures dip into the upper 20s to 30s across the Brazos Valley, because of calm, clear, and cold conditions. Wednesday is likely to find a widespread freeze across the region. Madisonville, TX should drop to 27° Wednesday morning, with a light freeze possible. Not liking the colder weather? The weather begins to warm into the 70s by late week and into the weekend (first few days of the New Year).
