Forecast Discussion:
Temperatures around freezing Tuesday morning (record cold for mid-March) have been pushed out by a warming trend through the rest of the week and into the weekend for Southeast Texas. In fact, the Brazos Valley is in for a huge increase in readings over the next entire week, as high pressure continues to balloon over Texas. First, morning temperatures began in the 40s areawide Wednesday morning, noticeably “warmer” than the St. Patty’s Day morning. Highs found their way into the middle 70s Wednesday afternoon, much warmer than the past few days. The next several days bring sunny skies, leading to a nice warming trend for the Brazos Valley.
Thursday bring sunshine and highs around the 80° mark for the Brazos Valley, but the weekend is our main focus for heat safety. Temperatures climb into the upper 80s to lower 90s across Southeast and Central Texas Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Madisonville, TX is eyeing a high around 88°-90° both days. In fact, heat records could be tied/broken heading into the upcoming weekend, so that is something to watch. Unfortunately, with the influx in temperatures (and high pressure in place), rainfall isn’t in the forecast through the next seven days. In fact, temperatures exceed the 80°+ through the next seven days. Spring is starting out right on schedule, so dress accordingly!
