Forecast Discussion:
Beneficial rainfall fell across the Brazos Valley Thursday morning and early afternoon, causing localized flooding and a brief tornado in Lee and Washington Counties. Calmer, drier conditions carry us through the evening and overnight hours of Thursday, but a light shower or two cannot be ruled out completely. This latest storm system doesn’t bring any cooler weather, but a few storms are possible midday Friday before a drier evening unfolds across the Brazos Valley. By Easter Weekend, our next round of widespread rainfall and cooler weather is expected to sweep the region.

A secondary system of widespread showers and thunderstorms barrel through the Brazos Valley Saturday. A few stronger storms are possible Saturday afternoon and evening across Central and Southeast Texas, making midweek the time to be weather aware. The Southeastern Brazos Valley sits in a 1 out of 5 (low) risk for severe weather Saturday. Heavy downpours, lightning, gusty winds, and minor flooding are possible with any heavier rainfall activity across the Brazos Valley. Skies clear out by Easter Sunday morning, allowing us to get to those church services and outdoor gatherings on a drier, cool note. Highs fall a few degrees short of the 70° mark Easter Sunday afternoon. We’ll continue to fine-tune the forecast, especially the timing and impacts as we move closer to the weekend, but heavy rainfall could cause disruptions Saturday.
