Forecast Discussion:
Our next major cold front sweeps Southeast Texas late Saturday, bringing a chance for rainstorms and “cooler” weather to begin the back half of April 2026. Much of the last week has featured warm, muggy weather across the Brazos Valley, but that Gulf moisture will washout with this next frontal system. A chance for widespread showers and a few stronger thunderstorms are expected through Saturday afternoon and evening for the Brazos Valley. The first half of the day looks to be drier locally, however that cold front does move through the North Brazos Valley as earlier as 8-10AM Saturday, before sliding south through the early afternoon hours (12-2PM). Temperatures are expected to drop from the the middle 70s into the lower 60s across the Brazos Valley through the day. However, the largest chance for storms is expected to arrive much later in the day and into the night.

A round of showers and thunderstorms could move through the Brazos Valley between 5PM Saturday into midnight Sunday. Severe weather isn’t expected, as this latest round of rain will arrive after our cold front moves through (cooler, stable air in place). However, heavy rainfall, lightning, and minor flooding are always possible with any heavier, embedded thunderstorms. Rain totals manage a tenth to half an inch with isolated readings of one inch before the end of the weekend. Minor flooding is possible, especially on local streets and the inner cities of the Brazos Valley. Highs are cooler through the middle of next week: lower-to-middle 70s across Southeast Texas. Additional chances for rainfall are expected Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday of next week, but they won’t be as heavy or widespread across the Brazos Valley.
