Forecast Discussion:
Sunshine and quiet weather carried us through Sunday, as drier and cool conditions prevailed across the Brazos Valley. Cooler weather lingers through the middle of next week, alongside the chance for heavy rainfall over the next several days. An area of low pressure slides over the State of Texas Tuesday, increasing the likelihood for scattered showers and thunderstorms Tuesday and Wednesday across Central and Southeast Texas. Another quick quarter to a half inch of rainfall (higher totals possible) is possible across the Brazos Valley with this latest rain system moving through the region.

A secondary disturbance shifts through the Brazos Valley, bringing another chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms. There’s a 70% chance for rain on the books Tuesday, with a 60% chance by Wednesday in the Brazos Valley. A third weather system could bring a chance for scattered showers over the weekend (late April). There is a 20-30% chance for scattered rain activity Friday through Sunday in the Brazos Valley. Temperatures are also cooler this week, as morning lows dip into the 50s the next few mornings. Monday through Wednesday feature highs in the 70s, before we move back into the 80s late week and into next weekend. This’ll likely be the coolest weather we’ll see for some time, as the summer season takes over heading into June, July, and August.

Forecast Discussion:
Our latest cold front has pushed off the Gulf Coast, allowing temperatures to tumble into the 60s during the late part of Saturday afternoon across the Brazos Valley. With moisture available, additional showers and a few thunderstorms could develop into the overnight hours of Saturday into early Sunday morning for the Brazos Valley. A few stronger thunderstorms are possible, but the severe weather threat looks to be limited across the region. Heavy downpours, lightning, and gusty winds are possible overnight Saturday into Sunday morning.

By Sunday morning, those rainstorms exit southward and skies clear out through the day across the Brazos Valley. Afternoon highs move into the lower-to-middle 70s across the region under sunny skies and a gusty north wind blowing 10-15mph with gusts upwards to 20mph at times locally. The cooler weather pattern, which is a rare treat for late April, continues into early next week, as highs linger in the 70s areawide. By late week, temperatures begin to climb into the 80s across the Brazos Valley. Our best chance for numerous showers and thunderstorms is expected Tuesday and Wednesday, with an isolated chance by the upcoming weekend.
