Forecast Discussion:
Per the past several afternoons, severe storms have rolled across the Central and Southern Plains, bringing damaging winds and isolated tornadoes. Across North Texas, a complex of showers and strong thunderstorms could crawl into the Northern Brazos Valley overnight Tuesday into early Wednesday (via HI-RES model data) A TORNADO WATCH has been issued for the Northern Brazos Valley through 1 AM Wednesday, as damaging winds, large hail, and a few tornadoes cannot be ruled out between 9PM Tuesday and 2AM Wednesday. Be sure to have a way to receive weather alerts through the night and stay weather aware.

Wednesday through Friday brings a chance for severe weather to the Brazos Valley. Two major frontal systems bring a chance for rainstorms through mid-to-late week, with the first front arriving Wednesday. A chance for widespread showers and thunderstorms is possible Wednesday afternoon and evening (60-80%). Damaging wind gusts and large hail remain possible, with the risk of heavy rainfall also on the books for the Brazos Valley. Thursday’s rain chance is conditional, meaning the ingredients are there for impactful storms, but it highly depends on where this front stalls or pulls north around the Brazos Valley. Either way, scattered storm activity is possible Thursday (50%) before another widespread chance for strong thunderstorms are possible Friday (90%). Cooler weather, behind this second front starting the weekend, brings cooler weather in the upper 60s to middle 70s for a couple of days. Friday’s storm risk looks lower because of the first front’s arrival could limit storm potential.
