Forecast Discussion:
Another weekend with rainfall in the forecast for the Brazos Valley, as temperatures slowly warm up the next couple of days. A few isolated showers, cloudier skies, and lows in the lower 60s kickstart Friday morning. Scattered rain activity could move in from the west throughout the morning and early afternoon hours, but the chance is only 40% in coverage and many of us will remain dry across the Brazos Valley. Any stronger storm could produce heavy downpours, gusty winds, and frequent lightning. Be sure to an umbrella handy through at least the first half of the day and use caution on the morning commute if you happen to stumble upon a storm or two.
A low pressure system will swirl in from the West Coast and reach the State of Texas over the weekend. In turn, passing showers and thunderstorms remain on the books Saturday and Sunday. The best chance for rainfall comes Friday evening through Saturday morning, if storm can develop quickly. However, if atmospheric dynamics aren’t together (the ingredients to create storms), then the cap on the atmosphere could hold and limit storm development through the start of the weekend. Either way, severe weather is possible, with the NWSSPC has marked the Brazos Valley for a 1 out of 5 (marginal) risk for storms Friday and Saturday. Heavy rainfall and flooding are also a concern going into the weekend for the Brazos Valley. By Sunday night, another cold front is moving through the region, bringing a 60% chance for rainstorms through the start of the week. Temperatures are cooler behind that front in the 70s early week.
