It’s bee a whirlwind of weather to kickstart May with cold fronts and severe weather for Central and Southeast Texas. Most of Mother’s Day Sunday will be dry, hot, and humid across the Brazos Valley. Morning lows around the 70° mark turn to highs in the middle 80s under partly cloudy skies Sunday afternoon across the Brazos Valley. With the added moisture, patchy fog and low clouds remain possible through the morning hours of Sunday locally. Overall, most of Mother’s Day Sunday looks nice, quiet, and hot before our next chance for severe storms arrive late Sunday into early Monday across the Brazos Valley.

By Sunday evening, storms crawl out of North and Northwest Texas, as the next cold front moves towards the Brazos Valley. Storms are possible as earlier as 5PM Sunday, but the more impactful weather, including a few stronger-to-severe storms, are possible by 9PM Sunday across the Brazos Valley. Those storms barrel southward, moving into the Southern Brazos Valle through the late night hours of Sunday into Monday morning. These storms could produce damaging wind gusts, large hail, and a few tornadoes to start the week. The NWSSPC has tagged the Brazos Valley in a 2 and 3 out of 5 risk for severe weather through Monday. The strongest storms look possible across the North Brazos Valley, and a watch or two may be needed tomorrow. Behind the front, temperatures drop into the 70s to begin the week Monday, before drier, warm weather takes us through much of mid-May 2026.
