Forecast Discussion:
Another chance for rainstorms is in the forecast Thursday for Central and Southeast Texas, with enough moisture and lift in this upper-level weather pattern to produce it. The heaviest chance for widespread showers and thunderstorms comes Thursday morning into the afternoon, but is still dependent upon the location of this upper-level disturbance through the day. For now, we’ll keep a 20% chance for some overnight showers, before a 60% chance for showers and thunderstorms expected throughout the day Thursday for the Brazos Valley. By the late Thursday, daytime heating could lead to additional rain development throughout the day. With multiple chances for rain on the books Thursday from various systems, flooding is a concern heading into the weekend, especially across the western counties of the Brazos Valley.

Friday morning brings another chance to see if storms can crawl out of West Texas into the Brazos Valley as the past several nights have tried to do so. Most of those complexes collapse before reaching the Brazos Valley. Scattered storm activity is possible Friday afternoon, but overall, the day looks to be less impactful for the Brazos Valley. Another chance for widespread storms are on the books Saturday, with some downpours possible Sunday and Memorial Day Monday as well. Severe weather remains limited through the weekend, but heavy rainfall, flooding, frequent lightning, and gusty winds cannot be ruled out at times. When done, some 3.00″-5.00″+ of rainfall expected by the end of the weekend and into early next week.
