Forecast Discussion:
FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FOR LEE COUNTY, TX THRU 7 PM MONDAY. Ongoing rain chances plague our Memorial Day Weekend forecast across Central and Southeast Texas. Friday and Memorial Day Monday are likely the best days to get anything done outdoors, as the rest of the holiday weekend (and into even next week) features daily chances for widespread rainfall. On Friday, afternoon highs approach the middle 80s under sunny skies, though a 40% chance for scattered rain activity is possible during the mid-to-late afternoon hours. By Friday evening, we’ll watch a couple of storm complexes to crawl out of West Texas, approaching the Brazos Valley early Saturday. Latest model runs suggests these storms weaken significantly before reaching our area, but it’s worth keeping an eye on.

Saturday looks to bring a widespread chance for showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. A low pressure, centered off the California coastline, provides enough lift to fortify our rain chances during the day (as it moves east). Sunday and Memorial Day Monday also bring additional chances for passing downpours across the Brazos Valley. A ‘Marginal Risk’ (1 out of 5 level) for severe weather is forecast by the NWSSPC for the Southwest Brazos Valley Saturday, even though severe weather will be limited. Any stronger storms could produce heavy downpours, strong wind gusts, and frequent lightning. Some 3.00″-5.00″+ of rainfall is forecast through the end of the weekend. Rain chances continue into next week for the Brazos Valley.

5-Day Weather Outlook
Friday: High 84. Low 69. Mostly Sunny. 40% Chance/Rain.
Saturday: High 82. Low 68. Storms. 70% Chance/Rain.
Sunday: High 79. Low 67. Storms. 70% Chance/Rain.
Memorial Day: High 81. Low 68. Storms. 50% Chance/Rain.
Tuesday: High 84. Low 71. Mostly Sunny. 40% Chacne/Rain.
