Forecast Discussion:
We’re beginning the month of June on a very warm and drier note across Central and Southeast Texas, as highs move into the lower 90s through the first half of the week. A weak cold front will move in from the east on Tuesday, prompting our next chance for rainstorms, but highs are still expected to reach the 90° mark Tuesday afternoon across the Brazos Valley. This weak front will bring a broken line of showers and isolated thunderstorms into the Brazos Valley (from the east) late afternoon on Tuesday, with that rain activity lingering into the evening and overnight hours as well. While severe weather is limited, but a few stronger storms could bring locally heavy downpours and strong wind gusts.
A scattered rain chance continues through the end of the week, with the heaviest chance for passing, widespread rain coming Saturday for the Brazos Valley. A surge in tropical moisture crawls out of the Gulf this weekend, fueling widespread, soupy rain for a couple of days across Southeast Texas. The 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season started June 1st, but there isn’t any indication this latest tropical mess will develop into anything significant. The biggest chance for rain comes Friday into Saturday, as a low pressure moves in from the west, interacting with that tropical moisture and creating a lift in the atmosphere to produce rainfall. Residents should expect some disruptions this weekend, especially by the afternoon/evening hours. From midweek and into the weekend, high temperatures are back in the middle 80s for the time being.
