Forecast Discussion:
Moving into a more typical summerlike pattern across Central and Southeast Texas late week. An upper-level ridge of high pressure continue its grip over the Lone Star State, pushing afternoon highs in the lower/middle 90s through the end of the week and into the upcoming weekend for the Brazos Valley. Heat index values (shaded) will exceed the 100° mark each afternoon across the Brazos Valley, so please use extreme caution outdoors. Isolated showers to a stray thunderstorm cannot be ruled out over the next few days, especially by the afternoon and evening hours, but overall, most remain dry through the end of the week.
By the weekend, another slug of tropical moisture should help to boost rain chances locally across the Brazos Valley heading into the middle of the month. The source of this tropical moisture is the remnants of Tropical Depression Cristina moving inland over Central America from the Pacific Wednesday. This tropical mess will become disorganized and weaken over land, but eventually emerges in the Southwest Gulf of Mexico and moves inland over Southeast Texas this weekend. In turn, tropical downpours occur over the Brazos Valley through the weekend, with increasing coverage heading into next week, as a weak front moves closer to the area. Monday could be a washout, with a 70% chance for rain on the books heading into next week for the Brazos Valley. We’ll keep you posted as we move closer to next week.
