Forecast Discussion:
A FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR THE ENTIRE BRAZOS VALLEY THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING. Late weekend rain chances have poured over into the start of the week across Central and Southeast Texas. Deeper Gulf moisture produced widespread rain Monday morning, interacting with a frontal boundary draped over Southeast Texas early week. Additional rounds of widespread showers and thunderstorms are possible Tuesday, especially earlier in the day for the Brazos Valley. This weak front is likely to stall between the Brazos Valley and Coastal Texas, producing significant rainfall locally Tuesday and into Wednesday. This boundary acts of a focal point for the development of additional rainstorms, but where it lands will determine how much rainfall the area gets.

Besides the front, a tropical low is spinning along Coastal Texas this week, but has been working its way out of the Southwest Gulf since late last week. There is some questioning on whether this low-pressure system will develop into a tropical system, but either way, it’ll push more tropical moisture into Southeast Texas, as it remerges into the Gulf Tuesday. This system likely impacts the Texas Coast more than it does here locally, but we’re still expecting heavy rain rates and additional flooding concerns through the week. The forecast for late week and into next weekend holds at least a scattered rain chance, but we’ll have to adjust the forecast as we move closer to it. Either way, never cross a flooded roadway! Turn around, don’t drown! Use caution, especially at night!
