EXTREME HEAT WARNINGS AND HEAT ADVISORIES ARE IN EFFECT FOR THE BRAZOS VALLEY THROUGH THE WEEKEND. Experiencing some of the hottest weather of 2026 across the Brazos Valley to start the upcoming weekend, as sinking air occurs on the backside of the post-tropical Arthur and the remnants of its circulation, confining heat and humidity around us. Over the weekend, afternoon highs reach the middle/upper 90s across the Brazos Valley, with heat index values ranging 105°-110° outdoors because of the increased humidity levels. Be sure to use caution outdoors, take frequent breaks, and drink plenty of water.

On Friday, a weak frontal boundary (cold front) moves into Southeast Texas, while the remnants of Arthur move east. While this front doesn’t cool us off much, rain chances are on the books Friday and Saturday afternoon/evening across the Brazos Valley. We aren’t expecting severe storms and the tropical moisture won’t be as embedded as earlier in the week that caused flooding issues locally. For now, there is some uncertainty with the placement and timing of these rainstorms, but it’ll depend on where this cold front stalls across the region. Overall, we’ll run hot and humid through the weekend, with a chance for darting storms.
