Forecast Discussion:
Another scorcher across the Brazos Valley late Sunday, with a slight chance for thunderstorms lingering in the forecast to kickstart the first full week of July 2026. Morning lows dip around the 80° mark across the Brazos Valley, with a slight chance for showers overnight Sunday into Monday morning. Storms crawl out of Oklahoma and North Texas, moving eastward and collapsing likely before they reach the Brazos Valley. However, a few noisy storms cannot be ruled out through the very early morning hours. A better chance for rain is likely by Monday and Tuesday afternoons, as a series of disturbances slide overhead heading into next week. If any isolated thunderstorms develop during the first half of the week, they could produce heavy downpours, gusty winds, and lightning locally.
Through early week, the rain chance is only 20%, at best, but those that cannot find any rainfall can expect ongoing heat and humidity across the Brazos Valley. Temperatures climb into the middle/upper 90s to near 100° each afternoon this week. Heat indices rise into the triple digits (as high as 105°) across the region, as Gulf moisture continues to pour into the atmosphere over Southeast Texas. Please use caution, drink plenty of water, and avoid the heat of the day. Be sure to wear light-weighted clothing and apply sunscreen. Heat illnesses can occur quickly, so use extreme caution. Beyond early week, we may find additional chances for isolated rainstorms by next weekend (mid-July) for the Brazos Valley.
