Forecast Discussion:
HEAT ADVISORIES HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR MOST OF THE BRAZOS VALLEY THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING. We’re gearing up for another scorching week across Southeast Texas. Another upper-level high ridge of high pressure settles over the State of Texas, bringing afternoon temperatures in the upper 90s and a few triple-digit afternoons across the Brazos Valley, as we wrap up the month of July and head into early August. The combination of the heat and increasing moisture levels from the Gulf find heat index values (feel-like temperatures) exceeding the 105° mark each afternoon, so be sure you’re taking it easy outdoors, checking on your neighbors, and staying hydrated. Heat advisories are in place for most of the Brazos Valley from 12-7PM Tuesday, with more of those advisories likely extended into the back half of the week.
Most of our significant rainfall fell across the Brazos Valley during the first half of the month, so it would be shocking to find any additional rainfall before the end of the month. However, the first several days of early August could change that, as an isolated rain chance is back in the forecast by start of next week for the Brazos Valley. The first couple days could bring additional shower chances (and maybe a stray thunderstorm), as a weak “cold” front approaches the region. Nevertheless, afternoon highs wrap up the weekend in the upper 90s/lower 100s across the Brazos Valley. We’re hoping for more significant rainfall moving into the first few weeks of August, but the latest model trends pinpoint to a low chance of that actually happening locally.
