Forecast Discussion:
August is in full swing across Southeast Texas, as hot and sunny weather continues through the remainder of the week. Through the end of the week, high pressure continues to sit across the Southwest United States, keeping the hottest weather away from the Brazos Valley (and Texas). In turn, temperatures hang around the middle 90s (which is seasonable) through the rest of the week and into the weekend. Still, heat index values exceed the 100° mark each afternoon, with high humidity levels making it feel muggy outdoors during the heat of the day locally.

This latest weather change keeps high pressure away and could allow for a few afternoon showers or a stray thunderstorm, as the sea breeze moves inland over Southeast Texas. Of course, the best chance for passing rains would be along Coastal Texas (south of I-10) through the end of the week. By Monday, the NWS has a 10% chance for isolated storms on the books for Madisonville, TX. Coverage is best late weekend into early next week, but overall, most of us remain dry through the end of the week across the Brazos Valley. For now, use caution in this heat, check on your neighbors, and stay hydrated. (side note: Madison County, TX is now under a countywide burn ban, where outdoor burning is prohibited until further notice).
