Forecast Discussion:
HEAT ADVISORIES AND EXTREME HEAT WARNINGS ISSUED FOR THE BRAZOS VALLEY THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING. Local residents have now made it through the hottest weekend of the year, with our triple-digit days now sitting at nearly a dozen across the area. This persistent high ridge influences our forecast this week, bringing hot, drier conditions to the Brazos Valley. Afternoon highs sit between 102°-104° through the next several afternoons, with heat index values (shaded) closer to 110°-115° outdoors. As a result, extreme heat warnings and heat advisories are in place for the Brazos Valley through at least midweek.

Sadly, the Brazos Valley fell short of the expected rainfall this past weekend. Most of those spotty showers and thunderstorms remained well east of the Brazos Valley, but we’ll try and squeeze out some additional rain chances by the start of the upcoming weekend in the Brazos Valley. As the previous weekend, this ridge recedes westward and likely weakens some. In turn, temperatures should drop into the upper 90s to lower 100s (instead of the higher end totals) through the weekend for the area. Rain chances also return this weekend, with a 40% chance of rain Thursday night for the Brazos Valley. Thursday and Friday both hold a 20-30% chance for spotty showers and storms. While it may not be any significant rainfall, it should be enough to at least bring some cooler showers and maybe a bit of rainfall to dust us off.
