Forecast Discussion:
The last few of days of the week brought scattered rainstorms across the Central and Southern Brazos Valley. However, the upcoming weekend has been hot and dry and looks to stay that way as we end the month of August 2026 across Southeast Texas. In fact, Saturday brough the first day in over two weeks with temperatures below the century mark across the Brazos Valley. While the end of the weekend looks generally dry, there is always a chance an isolated storm or two could pop up with daytime heating Sunday evening.

The larger focus entering the first days of September will be the hot and dry weather across the Brazos Valley. Afternoon highs linger in the upper 90s to 100° through the extended outlook, with heat index values as high as 105° outdoors. Be sure to use extreme caution outdoors, check on your neighbors and the elderly, and stay hydrated during the heat of the day. With high pressure slowly moving eastward, isolated rain chances are back on the books by the middle of the upcoming week. The overall chance is only 20% at best for Tuesday and maybe Wednesday in the Brazos Valley, as the sea breeze moves inland over the region. While this isn’t drought busting rainfall, anything will help. Fire danger is very real outside, as “Moderate Drought” conditions return to the Brazos Valley, and the local burn ban list continues to grow.

5-Day Weather Outlook:
Sunday: High 99. Low 74. Sunny. Heat index: 105°.
Monday: High 99. Low 75. Sunny. Heat index: 104°.
Tuesday: High 97. Low 74. Partly Cloudy. 20% Chance/Rain.
Wednesday: High 97. Low 74. Mostly Sunny.
Thursday: High 98. Low 74. Sunny, Hot.
