Forecast Discussion:
August is ends as one of the top five driest months on record for portions of the Brazos Valley (particularly at Easterwood Airport in B/CS), even with a few of us reeling some beneficial rainfall over the past several afternoons. We’ve got some major changes for the upcoming week across Southeast Texas, as a chance for significant rainfall is on the books in the Brazos Valley. The tropics are heating up once again, with this latest tropical disturbance likely impacting Texas and Louisiana later this week.

By the middle of next week, a tropical low, which is currently weak but organized, is expected to drift westward towards the Upper Texas Gulf Coast Tuesday into Wednesday. At the least, this system could bring increasing moisture and better rain chances through mid/late this week. If this system becomes better developed, those rain chances and local impacts may need to be adjusted in the forecast. For now, Wednesday is the best day to find at least some scattered showers and thunderstorms in the Brazos Valley.

Through the remainder of the week, onshore winds and high pressure moving eastward keep the sea breeze going to bring additional chances for isolated showers and thunderstorms late week. As a result, temperatures in the middle 90s Wednesday and the upper 90s late week and into the following weekend. For now, please note this forecast could shift, especially if this system becomes a depression or named storm over the next few days. Tuesday through Thursday bring the most impactful weather locally.
