Forecast Discussion:
A FLOOD WATCH is in effect for Brazos, Grimes, Houston, Madison, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Trinity, and Walker Counties until 1PM Thursday. What’s left of Tropical Storm Edouard is spinning out of the Brazos Valley and East Texas Thursday morning. Wednesday brought heavy rainfall and flooding to portions of the Eastern Brazos Valley, with rain chances slacking off overnight. However, they’ve picked up again Thursday morning, especially across the Northeastern Brazos Valley (Madison, Houston, and Trinity Counties), where flood advisories have been issued locally. Edouard’s circulation will pull northward, bringing building moisture back behind into the Brazos Valley. In turn, that could be some additional bands of rain into the area Thursday afternoon.

Another half to two inches of rainfall is possible before the end of the day Thursday across the eastern areas of the Brazos Valley. Those on the western end of the Brazos Valley (west of I-45) could still find some nice showers and brief downpours through the day. Flash flooding will continue to be a concern heading into the remainder of Thursday, especially across the Southeastern Brazos Valley, where flooded roadways have become an issue through the week. The NWSHGX does note that they may need to make adjustments to the Flood Watch that has been issued and run it through early Friday portions of the region. Highs move into the middle 90s this weekend and into next week, as rain chances linger in the forecast for Southeast Texas.
