Forecast Discussion:
Isolated showers and thunderstorms bubbled up across the Brazos Valley Thursday afternoon and early evening, with a few folks finding some beneficial downpours. Others remained hot, humid, and dry through the end of the day. With enough atmospheric moisture, there could be a few additional chances for spotty showers and thunderstorms Friday and through the weekend in the Brazos Valley. If you cannot find any rain relief, temperatures will be pretty hot as well as the added humidity brings heat index values above the triple digit mark. Afternoon highs move into the middle/upper 90s through the weekend as well locally.

By the weekend, high pressure slides east and moisture continues to pour into the atmosphere over Coastal Texas. That could spark those additional chances for a 20-30% coverage of passing rainstorms through the weekend in the Brazos Valley. However, the heaviest rain coverage looks to be closer to Houston and along Coastal Texas. By next week, high pressure should weaken further, allowing disturbances to roll through the atmosphere and cooler weather in Southeast Texas. Highs could be back around the 90° moving into middle/late September. For now, residents can only hope for a quick downpour and a brief drop in temperatures to cool us off through the weekend.
