Forecast Discussion:
A complex of thunderstorms fired up across West-Central Texas Wednesday afternoon, but most of the storm activity fell short of the Brazos Valley. A few stray showers are possible to close out your Wednesday, and once again, with all the warm moisture available in the atmosphere, a few passing showers and storms cannot be ruled out before the week ends across Central and Southeast Texas. However, many of us remain drier through the end of the week, as temperatures move closer to the 90° mark Thursday and Friday afternoon. By the upcoming weekend, a major storm system, along with an attached cold front, could bring additional chances for scattered to widespread rainfall in the Brazos Valley.
Our next system arrives mid-weekend in the Brazos Valley! A chance for scattered showers and strong thunderstorms are possible Saturday afternoon and evening across Southeast Texas. These storms are expected to track more southward, when compared to last week’s storms, which places it right over our region Saturday. Heavy rainfall and minor, low-lying flooding could become a concern for the Brazos Valley through the end of the upcoming weekend. This latest cold front, attached this system, could be slower moving, allowing storms to carry us over into Saturday night into early Sunday morning. By Sunday morning, temperatures dip around 50°, before highs climb into the lower 70s across the Brazos Valley late Sunday. And the best news? Highs reach the 60s areawide Monday afternoon across the Brazos Valley, which is a rare joy for mid-April standards.
