Forecast Discussion:
Wednesday’s storm chance was conditional, and it remained just that, as storms weren’t able to fire up because of a “capped” atmospheric state across Southeast Texas. Our next cold front has swept most of the Brazos Valley, allowing a quick round of isolated showers and storms across the southern counties of the Brazos Valley. Our biggest story is the cooler weather behind this latest frontal system, which’ll drop temperatures right around the 60° Thursday morning in the Brazos Valley. Afternoon highs are also coolish in the middle 70s Thursday afternoon for the region.

Thursday doesn’t appear to bring any major rainfall, but a few isolated showers are possible, as this front washes out over the Gulf. During late week, our eyes turn out west, as a low pressure system, which is swirling off the West Coast, spins out over the State of Texas. In turn, that’ll bring a chance for widespread showers and thunderstorms over the weekend, but the exact timing has been very difficult to pinpoint. Because of that, we’ll keep an 80% chance for rain on the books for Friday, before slightly lowering rain chances to a 60% area coverage by Saturday in the Brazos Valley. Either way, multiple rounds of rainfall are possible, as flooding could become a major concern for the holiday weekend. Overall, we’ll still need to mold out this forecast (timing, location, and impacts) through the rest of the week, so that we can better prepare for the upcoming weekend.
