Forecast Discussion:
The State of Texas has been dealing with some noisy storm complexes throughout the start of the week and the rain chances look to continue through the next several days. The largest swath of rainstorms (from Tuesday evening) has cleared the Brazos Valley very early Wednesday morning, but a few additional storms cannot be ruled out through the Wednesday morning. This latest cold front will keep the atmosphere stabilized late Wednesday, keeping storm chances limited through the afternoon hours. That is why there is only a 30% chance for scattered rain on the books Wednesday for the Brazos Valley. Otherwise, cloudier, warm conditions take over, as afternoon highs reach the lower 80s Wednesday afternoon. However, the rain chances aren’t over yet.
With enough moisture and lift available in the atmosphere (from an upper-level system), scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms are possible through the end of the week and into the upcoming holiday weekend for the Brazos Valley. The next major rain chance comes Thursday, where widespread showers and thunderstorms are possible all day. Saturday and Sunday are also bring widespread chances for rainfall. Either way, some 4.00″-6.00″+ of localized rainfall is possible before the weekend is up in the Brazos Valley. Minor, low-lying flooding could also become a concern for the region, so use caution on local roadways and drainage areas. Memorial Day Monday into the early part of next week brings at least a scattered rain chance.
