FLOOD WATCH ISSUED FOR THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN BRAZOS VALLEY THROUGH 7 PM MONDAY. We’re beginning the upcoming weekend with more showers and rumbles of thunder early Saturday morning across North and Southeast Texas. From Dallas to Houston, storms are moving eastward, bringing heavy rainfall and localized flooding concerns early Saturday. However, Saturday brings the largest risk for storms across the region. With a low pressure system moves nearby, the exact timing is hard to pin down, but the general thinking is sometime during Saturday afternoon. Any heavy rainfall could produce higher rainfall rates through the day, leading to a FLOOD WATCH being issues across the southern counties and into Coastal Texas. Be sure to use caution traveling Saturday!

Sunday and Memorial Day Monday bring a 50% chance for scattered rain activity throughout the day across the Brazos Valley. Severe weather potential is limited through the weekend, but Saturday would bring the biggest risk for storm development. The Southwest Brazos Valley is under a 1 out of 5 (marginal) risk for severe weather Saturday, with heavy rain, frequent lightning, and strong wind gusts being the largest concerns. Strangely enough, rain chances continue into a good portion of next week across Southeast Texas. Overall, temperatures linger in the lower-to-middle 80s throughout the extended forecast under cloudier skies.
