Forecast Discussion:
Tropical Storm Arthur brought heavy rainfall and flash flooding concerns to Southeast Texas this week. However, the weather forecast going into next week is much quieter (and hot) for the Brazos Valley. Sunday night brings warm and humid conditions across the region, as low temperatures dip into the upper 70s with a racing south wind around 20 mph at times. By Monday, upper-level high pressure is back in place, bringing a more typical summerlike weather pattern: drier weather, highs in the lower-to-middle 90s, and heat index values in the triple digits. Please use caution if you’re outdoors this week.

Hot and drier weather remains in place throughout much of the upcoming week across Southeast Texas. However, the humidity won’t be as “humid” as the past several days, as we lack the tropical moisture from Tropical Storm Arthur. Heat index values still climb into the middle 100s each afternoon across the Brazos Valley. With that, rain chances aren’t expected through the next several days, as high pressure holds firm. In fact, the Brazos Valley will likely wrap up the last seven or eight days of the month on a hot, drier note. Overall, please use caution outdoors, take frequent breaks, and stay hydrated in this hot summer weather this week.
