Forecast Discussion:
Moving into the middle of the week with hot, steamy weather across the Brazos Valley. What is leftover from the remnants from Arthur will keep the humidity levels a touch high, but not as overbearing as last week. With added moisture, clouds, and a south wind, morning temperatures are very warm in the lower-to-middle 70s across the Brazos Valley throughout the week and into next weekend. Morning clouds linger through most the morning (post-sunrise) before a gradual clearing allows sunshine to return during the afternoon hours. Afternoon highs move into the 90s areawide with heat index values as high as 105° is expected this week.
Hot, humid, and now, hazy weather is expected in the Brazos Valley soon. Models are suggesting a batch of Saharan Dust from West Africa moves into the Southeast Texas around Wednesday before a larger round of dust arrives next week. Those with respiratory or sensitive issues should use caution outdoors during those times across the region. Finally, there doesn’t appear to be much rainfall in the forecast through the next seven to ten days (ending June). However, while we may need the rain to help prevent spreading drought conditions, this does allow us to dry out already saturated grounds across the Brazos Valley. For now, use caution, take frequent breaks, and drink plenty of water during the heat of the day.
