Forecast Discussion:
The summertime heat kickstarts the upcoming week across Central and Southeast Texas, so please use caution outdoors. Another plume of Saharan dust, which’ll be the largest of the season so far, moves into the Brazos Valley Sunday night into Monday. In addition to hazier skies outdoors, sunsets look to be colorful heading into the early portion of the week, as dust particles refract the sunlight in the atmosphere. Those with sensitive allergies or respiratory issues should use caution through the middle of the week, with air quality likely taking a hit in the atmosphere.
High pressure is shifting eastward, pulling Saharan dust into the region and bringing afternoon temperatures into the middle/upper 90s across Southeast Texas each day this week. Heat indices are in the triple digits each afternoon as well. High pressure also keeps rain chances on the lower side wrapping up June and heading into early July as well. However, by the first week of July, high pressure will move northeast and away from the Brazos Valley, allowing weak disturbances to move in overhead. In turn, that’ll bring additional chances for isolated showers and thunderstorms. The rainfall won’t be widespread, but we’ll introduce that sizzling summertime weather pattern, as we move closer to Independence Day.
5-Day Weather Outlook:
Sunday: High 94. Low 77. Mostly Sunny.
Monday: High 96. Low 75. Mostly Sunny.
Tuesday: High 95. Low 76. Sunny.
Wednesday: High 96. Low 75. Sunny.
Thursday: High 96. Low 76. Sunny. 20% Chance/Rain.
