Forecast Discussion:
Summertime weather continues into the Fourth of July holiday weekend for the Brazos Valley. Isolated showers and thunderstorms roamed the Brazos Valley Thursday afternoon, bringing beneficial rainfall to Walker and Madison Counties. Rain coverage is limited moving into the weekend across Southeast Texas, but a few local residents could find a brief downpour or two. A quarter inch of rainfall is possible across the Brazos Valley in isolated areas. Otherwise, the conversation for the upcoming Independence Day weekend will be the ongoing heat locally.
Temperatures linger in the middle/upper 90s throughout the upcoming holiday week across Central and Southeast Texas. Afternoon highs are expected to be hotter by the weekend, likely flirting with the triple digit mark for some counties. Most moisture in the atmosphere not only means limited rain chances, but heat index values climb as high as 105° outdoors over the weekend. By Saturday (Fourth of July), heat indices are likely nearing heat advisory criteria across the Brazos Valley. Hot and humid weather continues into the following week, as isolated rain chances return Monday and Tuesday in the Brazos Valley.
