Forecast Discussion:
A series of disturbances have been swirling around high pressure center over Texas, providing isolated showers and thunderstorms across North and Central Texas over the past couple of days. However, some of that has managed to move into the Brazos Valley, but its few and far in between. A few additional chances for passing showers to a stray rainstorm is possible over the next day or two, but the with drier air filtering into the region, rain chances start to dwindle some moving into the back half of the week. Overall, most of us remain dry and hot throughout the week.
If cannot find any rainfall, the hot and humid weather continues across the Brazos Valley this week. Afternoon highs move into the upper 90s over the next several days, with heat index values ranging the 100°-105° category each afternoon. While the Brazos Valley falls short of heat advisory criteria, a “Special Weather Statement” (SWS) related to the heat has been issued locally. Heat illnesses and stress can occur quickly if residents are not careful outdoors, please take frequent breaks, drink plenty of water, and avoid the hottest portion of the day (late afternoon and evening). By next weekend, rain chances become more scattered (numerous), as deep Gulf moisture sinks into the atmosphere. Friday through Sunday looks to bring at least a 30-40% chance for rain each day. For now, keep the heat and humidity in mind.
