AN EXTREME HEAT WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THE BRAZOS VALLEY THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT. Another massive heat dome has placed itself over the Southeast United States, including in the Brazos Valley, prompting heat advisories and extreme heat warnings through the middle of the week. With a surge of humidity pouring into the Brazos Valley, afternoon heat index values move range 110°-115° outdoors for the next couple of days. Check on your family and neighbors, and use extreme caution in this heat. While the heat is building, this heat dome is also moving Tropical Storm #Bertha through the Northeast Gulf.

Tropical Storm Bertha is churning in the Gulf, strengthening as it approaches the Gulf Coastline along Louisiana and Texas. By Wednesday, this system should near Southeast Louisiana. The latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center places this system as a tropical storm or depression in Houston Friday, followed by a remnant low sometime Saturday over the Brazos Valley. Because of windshear and the unbalanced nature of this system, most of its precipitation should remain south of the center of circulation over the open waters of the Gulf. With that said, tropical downpours are possible Wednesday through midday Saturday across the Brazos Valley and Houston. Tropical force winds are possible Thursday night through late Friday across the Southern Brazos Valley, with to 40mph+ gusts possible. Bertha eventually washes out over the Brazos Valley, leading to a drier, hot weekend locally.
