A HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR LEON COUNTY THROUGH 8PM SUNDAY. Heat and humidity is the focus of our forecast across the Brazos Valley to begin the last week of July. With a calm wind and surface moisture, areas of patchy fog look possible across the rural counties to kickstart Sunday, so use caution on local roadways. Sunday brings afternoon highs in the middle 90s across the Brazos Valley, with heat index values exceeding the 105° mark to end the weekend. However, Sunday isn’t the hottest day of the week, as more hot weather begins the week.

A heat dome develops over the Lone Star State this week, bringing increasing temperatures and shutting off local rain chances in the Brazos Valley. Temperatures reach the upper 90s/lower 100s throughout most of the week (especially by midweek) across Southeast Texas, likely prompting more heat advisories locally. Our next major weathermaker doesn’t appear to be in the forecast for the foreseeable future, meaning we are lacking rainfall. In turn, that leads to spreading drought conditions, but that is something we may not have to worry about right away.
