Forecast Discussion:
Sunny, hot weather continues into the first full week of August across Central and Southeast Texas. Our latest summertime “cool” front has filtered drier air into the Brazos Valley, allowing for mildly comfortable mornings in the lower 70s to begin the upcoming week. Unfortunately, afternoon highs climb quickly up the thermometer into the upper 90s/lower 100s Monday afternoon, as this frontal system moves out of the Brazos Valley. As a result, high temperature easily move into the middle 90s to lower 100s through the next week or so across Southeast Texas. Heat index values (feel-like temperatures) are in the triple digits as well.

Through the week, upper-level ridging allows enough moisture to move back into the atmosphere from the Gulf and brings the sea breeze inland each afternoon and evening. That’ll keep an isolated rain chance on the books for the latter portion of the day as well. Overall, many remain dry throughout the extended outlook and very few receive beneficial rainfall this week. The latest outlook from the CPC shows the United States expecting a very warmer than normal outlook for the month of August 2026. Be sure to use caution in this heat, check on your neighbors, and stay hydrated.
