Forecast Discussion:
HEAT ADVISORIES HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR THE ENTIRE BRAZOS VALLEY THROUGH LATE THURSDAY. Nearly half a dozen triple digit days are on the books for the Brazos Valley (including Madison County) this summer season thus far. Afternoon highs will rise into the low 100s over the weekend, with temperatures ranging 100°-103° across the area. Alongside temperatures, the humidity continues to increase over the next several days because of a south wind fueling warm Gulf air into the atmosphere. With higher low-level moisture in place, heat index values are as high as 110° outdoors. Heat advisories are in place for the Brazos Valley through Thursday and late Friday, with extended advisories or extreme heat warnings possibly needed over the weekend. Be sure to use caution outdoors during the heat of the day and drink plenty of water.

When does the Brazos Valley look to find a decent rain soaking? Well, the short answer is significant rainfall isn’t likely anytime soon, but there is a quick shot for isolated showers and thunderstorms for the Brazos Valley over the weekend. The earliest we could see spotty rainstorms is late Thursday night, and again on Friday night and Saturday morning into the Brazos Valley. A series of disturbances could move through the region this weekend, as high pressure slowly slips west. The likely chance for rainfall is still up in the air, but if storms become energized, heavy downpours, small hail, thunder, and gusty winds are possible under the heaviest storms. Overall, the chance of rain is only 20% at best by Saturday for the Brazos Valley. Sadly, high pressure shifts back eastward by next week, shutting off the rain chances and increasing temperatures locally.
