Forecast Discussion:
In the Northwest Gulf, Tropical Depression #5 has formed just offshore of the Upper Texas Coast, moving westward over the next 24 hours before making a landfall dinnertime Tuesday near Southeast Texas. Through Tuesday night and Wednesday, the center of circulation (the middle of the storm) will move across the Brazos Valley between Highway 6 and Interstate 45, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms and gusty winds through Wednesday morning. A lingering rain continues most of Wednesday across the eastern reaches of the Brazos Valley as well. We’re still expecting Tropical Storm “Edouard” to form from this system, but regardless of the type of storm, it’s expected to be a weak relating to impactful winds overland. A large swath of heavy rainfall (some 2.00″-4.00″+) are possible across the middle and eastern portion (I-45 and east) of the Brazos Valley. Still, the western reaches of the Brazos Valley could see significant rainfall, but less impactful weather locally.

Regardless of a named storm or not, this system is expected to bring heavy rainfall and flash flooding concerns to the Lone Star State. In fact, the rain chances won’t go completely away for the Brazos Valley. Isolated rain chances (20-30%) are possible late week, this weekend, and into the following week, as high pressure moves east, and onshore winds allow the sea breeze to move inland over Texas. In turn, temperatures stay just below the 100°-mark int he middle/upper 90s areawide through the end of the weekend. Please note, this forecast is ever-changing and is dependent upon this system’s track and organization, with changes possible Tuesday through Thursday in the Brazos Valley.
