Forecast Discussion:
A FLOOD WATCH has been issued for Brazos, Grimes, Houston, Madison, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Waller, and Washington Counties through Wednesday night. Tropical Storm Edouard made landfall along the Texas-Louisiana Border Tuesday afternoon. It’s expected to move through the Brazos Valley overnight Tuesday, bringing widespread rainfall into Wednesday morning and afternoon as well. Those east of Interstate 45 are favored for widespread rainfall and some flooding concerns through midweek. Though “Edouard” is a small tropical storm, it’s packing quite the punch across the Upper Texas Coast. By the time it arrives in the Brazos Valley overnight, there could be some occasional strong wind gusts through the middle of the week.

Those along Interstate 45 and eastward in the Brazos Valley could see some 2.00″-4.00″+ of rainfall by midweek. The western reaches of the Brazos Valley could far less rainfall, though higher localized totals aren’t completely ruled out. Of course, the largest concern will be flash flooding across the Brazos Valley. Once Edouard passes, onshore winds and an eastward shift in high pressure keep isolated rain chances in the forecast through the weekend and into the following week. In turn, highs run in the middle/upper 90s throughout the next seven days (and even towards the middle of the month). Overall, reap the benefits of this rainfall and we’ll see which counties adjust their burn bans over the next week or so.
