Forecast Discussion:
Our much-advertised cold front has moved through the Brazos Valley Friday morning, bringing the coldest air of the fall season. Morning lows dip into the upper 40s Saturday morning before tanking into the lower 40s Sunday morning, which is our coldest set of temperatures since April 2026 for the Brazos Valley. By Saturday and Sunday afternoons, temperatures move into the upper 60s to lower 70s areawide under sunshine. This is likely to be one of the most beautiful weekends we’ve had in recent years for the Madisonville Texas Mushroom Festival.

With all that in mind, breezy conditions are expected through the middle of the weekend across Central and Southeast Texas. Sustained northeasterly winds howl 10 to 15 mph, with wind gusts upwards to 25 mph Saturday afternoon across the area. A combination of gusty winds, relative low humidity, and drier conditions lead to elevated fire danger through the weekend across the Southeast Brazos Valley. Please avoid outdoor burning, grilling, or other activities, as any open flame or spark could ignite and cause grassfire fires very quickly across the Brazos Valley. By next week, temperatures move into the lower 80s before we move into the final weekend of October, with temperatures pushing 90°.
