Forecast Discussion:
We’re beginning the last week of October with sunshiny, warm weather across the Brazos Valley, as a slight bump in Gulf moisture adds a little more humidity to the atmosphere early week. However, the mornings are still cool and the afternoons still comfortable through much of the week for Central and Southeast Texas. Morning lows dip into the upper 50s to lower 60s each morning throughout the week, which is still on the cooler side for the Brazos Valley. Cloudier skies are expected Tuesday and again late week, as a series of disturbances roll through the atmosphere. Afternoon highs stay a few degrees above the 80° mark through the end of the work week in the Brazos Valley. While a bit of morning dew and fog is possible, this latest round of Gulf moisture isn’t doing much to boost local rain chances this week, especially widespread rain.
A 20% chance for passing showers and thunderstorms is on the books Tuesday afternoon, as our next cold front stalls well north of the Brazos Valley. Overall, this isn’t the washout we’re hoping for, but it’s at least a shot at a few quick rainstorms across the Brazos Valley through the middle of the week. The US Jet Stream dips southward, allowing those added disturbances to roll through it and bringing additional chances for rain to end the month of October and move into early November. Halloween weekend brings our best shot for scattered rain activity, as Pacific Tropical Storm Vance feeds moisture into these disturbances over Texas. A 30% chance for rain is on the books Halloween Saturday, but overall, most of us stay dry through the holiday weekend.
REMINDER: Daylight Savings Time (DST) ends at 2AM Sunday, November 1, 2026, so remember to set your clocks back one hour (“fall back”) and change out your batteries in our smoke detectors.
