Forecast Discussion:
We’re into the first full weekend of professional football across Texas, as hot and humid weather continues across the Brazos Valley. Residents should keep the shorts and shades handy, as well as an umbrella Saturday afternoon and early evening. A round of scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible through Saturday afternoon across the Brazos Valley, with the chance only being 40% in coverage. Once the sunsets, temperatures dip from the middle 90s into the 80s areawide Saturday. Most of the day Saturday and each day through the holiday weekend should be mostly dry locally. However, we’ll hold another chance for showers and storms Sunday and Labor Day, but Monday.

By the weekend and into early next week, high pressure slides eastward and onshore winds build up high pressure, allowing an ongoing isolated to scattered storm chance through the next seven or so days. Of course, this pattern is typical of summertime heat and humidity. Highs linger in the middle/upper 90s throughout the upcoming week and as we move closer to the middle of the month of September in the Brazos Valley. Feel-like temperatures move into the triple digits and as high as 105° outdoors locally through the weekend and next week. There is some model data that suggest the Southern U.S. could find a small push of cooler air by mid-September. Lows could drop into the 50s or 60s, but that isn’t anything set into stone, so we’ll keep you posted.
