A FLOOD WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR MILAM COUNTY THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING. Moving into October with some major changes for the Brazos Valley. First, we’ll end the month on a hotter note, as afternoon highs move into the middle 90s Wednesday afternoon across the area, with morning lows in the middle 70s as well. There could be a small chance for some scattered showers and thunderstorms late in the day Wednesday, as our next chance for heavy rainfall and flooding arrives later in the week for the Brazos Valley. Overall, the chance is 40%, or about half of the entire area through the middle of the week.
Leftover moisture from Pacific Hurricane Polo merges with Gulf moisture and an approaching fall cold front to bring a widespread chance for rain and the risk of flooding over multiple days for the Central and Southeast Texas. Per the timing and movement of this cold front will need to be adjusted over the next few days, but the general consensus in that this frontal system brings widespread rainfall Thursday through Saturday in the Brazos Valley. Several inches of rainfall could fill up the local rain gauge and excessive rain amounts could lead to flooding issues on local roadways through the beginning of the weekend. Be sure to stay weather aware from the midweek through the weekend.
